Canoes Plus started in Roy Farrance's back yard in the early 1970's. A few years later Roy opened up a shop in Kew, where we are still today. From such humble beginnings Canoes Plus has grown to be the largest canoe store in the Southern hemisphere; dealing in retail sales, sale of used equipment, hire and repairs, education and instruction at all levels.
This huge expansion has seen the original business develop a training and education facility. Operating under the banner CKEA (Canoe Kayak Education Australia) we provide canoe/kayaking sport and recreational training. It covers all levels of the sport and is a recognized training provider (Aust. Board of Canoe Education).
Over the last 30+ years Canoes Plus has been a very strong supporter of canoeing not only in Victoria but across the country, sponsoring many Australian team athletes, including Barcelona Olympic Silver medallist Danielle Woodward and our World Champion canoe polo team. Canoes plus has tirelessly supported and/or run many events in Victoria, such as the JLW Multi-sport Challenge, multiple National and State Championships for both Slalom and Downriver and the Eildon Triathlon, and lately the Australian womens rafting team. CanoesPlus have also been heavily involved in Dragon Boat racing for over 20 years.
Our committment has always been to canoeing and this philosophy is accepted by the entire staff. This committment obviously extends to our service and knowledge of the industry we serve.
